Carolyn Schutten

Carolyn Schutten is a master's degree candidate in Urban and Regional Planning at Cal Poly Pomona.  She is graduating with an emphasis in Land Use and Urban Design and, her thesis work considers an environmental psychology approach to effectively planning spaces for families.  Carolyn received the state Outstanding Student Runner-up Award, Outstanding Student Award in the Inland Empire Section and the Continuing Student Merit Award by the California Planning Foundation.  She also received awards from the LA Chapter Women’s Transportation Seminar, the Inland Empire Section of the APA, the Inland Empire Chapter Women’s Transportation Seminar and Cal Poly Pomona.  She is currently the Board Student Representative for the Inland Empire Section APA.  Carolyn has done several art installations at the Riverside Art Museum and exhibited photographs at the UCR Contemporary Museum of Photography and the Millard Sheets Center for the Arts.  She has worked in event, interior and floral design as well as elementary school and adult bilingual teaching.  Her background includes photography, literature, foreign languages and extensive international travel.
