Aaron Pfannestiel, AICP, LEED AP

Aaron is an urban planner with RBF Consulting, a multidisciplinary engineering and planning firm. Aaron’s primary focus is working with private development and public agency clients on planning and environmental projects throughout southern California. He is passionate about planning and sustainability and especially interested in the interaction of natural and manmade hazards within the context of sustainability. One of his main focuses is the incorporation of hazard mitigation into comprehensive planning projects to better protect communities and residents, which ultimately addresses the environmental, social, and economic aspects of sustainability. His planning experience includes comprehensive planning documents (Specific Plans and General Plans) environmental documents for CEQA and NEPA compliance, design guidelines, due diligence and feasibility studies, community outreach and education, and assisting public and private sector clients with development projects from inception to completion. He has received numerous awards and accolades for his academic and professional work and recently completed the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Emergency Management Institutes’, Introduction to Hazard Mitigation course. Aaron holds a Bachelor of Science in Geological Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from UC Santa Barbara, as well as a Master of Science in Urban and Regional Planning from Cal Poly Pomona. He is certified by the American Institute of Certified Planners and is a LEED Accredited Professional with the United States Green Building Council.
